  2. Your second and third choice of school

  5. Name of any siblings 4 years old and young in the same home
  6. Verification of income (If parent(s) do not submit income verification, they may be charged the maximum amount for tuition)

Children must be 4 years old by September 30th to enter Pre-K. 

No, Pre-K is not mandatory.

If you’ve been waitlisted at each of your selected schools, please contact the Pre-K department at (225) 226-7675 for information about other schools with available seats. A representative can update the school choices on your application.

Screening and household income determines eligibility. Children must also meet the age requirement of 4 years old by September 30th.

Yes, transportation is provided if the student attends the school within their attendance zone. To find out which school is in your attendance zone, please click here. Parents must provide transportation for their child if the student does not live in the school’s attendance zone, unless the child attends Southdowns Dedicated Pre-K Center or Delmont Dedicated Pre-K Center.

You will be notified via email about your application status. Please be sure to check your email regularly to ensure no communications are missed. 

To complete enrollment after acceptance, you must bring:

  1. Child’s original birth certificate 
  2. Child’s social security card
  3. Guardian’s state issued photo ID
  4. Up-to-date shot records
  5. Proof of residence (2 recent bills) – parents who do not have proof of residence may provide a notarized statement verifying that they reside at that address
  6. Two most recent paychecks

Parents that select any of those three options and provide appropriate verification automatically qualify for the program and the gross income/frequency fields will not affect determination. 

No.  Families who do not meet state income eligibility requirements for free tuition may be required to pay tuition based on a sliding fee scale.

No, only children who live in the City of Baton Rouge are eligible to enroll in an East Baton Rouge Parish School System school.
